Killer Swag Bag Ideas for Your Next Trade Show
If you go to business conferences or trade shows, you know there's always that one vendor who has the coolest swag. It's something you'd never think to give away, but everyone is loving it for that exact reason.
How do you become that vendor at your next event? You have to think about what the customer wants and what they'll want to keep.
Integrate your products into their daily life and you're golden. No one throws away something they would have bought but got for free.
Swag bag ideas aren't easy to come by, so we've gathered some for you below.
Swag Bag Ideas
When you pack up from a trade show, have you ever taken a moment to look at the trash? A large event like a trade show or football game produces 81 tons of trash.
That's one hundred and sixty-two thousand pounds of trash. You know what is in those trash cans? Irrelevant or cheap promotional products.
If you don't take the time to create quality promotional products, you're wasting money. Not to mention adding waste to our already sensitive earth.
So how do you make sure your products don't end up in the trash? Make sure they're usable, quality, and can get past airport security.
Let's say you sell shampoo and your samples are 4 ounces. They can't pass carry-on security checks. These are the types of detailed questions you have to ask yourself before purchasing products.

Reusable Bags
Everyone needs reusable grocery bags. How can you make yours relevant to your company without them being too cheesy to use?
One idea is to hire an artist to do your design. Have them create some design around your logo or incorporate it somewhere on the bag. These walking pieces of artwork will stand out from the crowd.
Promotional product companies will work with you to incorporate the artwork.
Or, give people a choice of a few logo designs. People will be more likely to keep something they picked based on their preferences.
If you can pull it off, have the choice of a bag someone can use immediately or one that's wrapped up. If people got bags for the conference, they won't want to carry two.
Wrap up the bags into little packets or roll them and secure with a hair-tie. That way people who already have a bag can throw it in and go.
Phone Accessories
Smart wallets are those silicone pockets that adhere to the back of your smartphone case. They carry a few cards or your ID so you always have it on you.
The silicone grabs on to whatever is inside it, so it doesn't slide out. People love these!
It's annoying to search through your bag for your wallet in a rushed line. Your phone is likely in your hand, so flipping it over and pulling your card out is convenient.
If you make the colors and designs attractive enough, no one will mind a reasonably sized logo.
The high-quality silicone smart wallets protect cards from magnet deactivation. What could be more helpful?
A word of caution, these are becoming more popular so make sure you go all out with the designs or offer unique colors.
Webcam Covers
A few years ago a picture of Marc Zuckerberg went viral because he had his webcam covered on his laptop. People thought if even Marc takes his security that seriously, we should too.
You can offer custom stickers that fit over a webcam lens. Print the sticker sheet with branding, but keep the sticker simple.
Leave a small tab on the end of the sticker for people to remove when they need to use their webcam.
This shows your customers you're concerned about their safety and it's useful - who couldn't use a little more privacy?
Chargers and Cords
Portable chargers are all the rage these days since we're using our phones like crazy. Use them to bring some power to your swag bag.
Most people already have a few portable chargers, but less remember to re-charge the ones they have. Giving them another is giving them a chance to have more around when they're looking for one.
If you can swing it, make sure they're pre-charged. Your clients will be grateful when they're on the tradeshow floor to have a backup phone battery.
You can offer a phone charging station at your booth along with the phone chargers to really capture attention.
Adult Coloring Books
Capitalize on the coloring craze going on right now. Adult coloring books are popping up everywhere as a beautiful relaxation technique.
They're not complicated to make, you can even make your brochure color-in-able. Give them a small set of colored pencils (not crayons) to go with it.
Now they have something to do on the plane ride home or something to give to their kids!
Giving Products Away
To reduce trash production and to save yourself money, don't push products on people who don't want them. How many times have you grabbed something at a trade show because it was easier than saying no?
Train your employees to offer things gently or set out your table so people can grab and go.
If they glance at your product once and throw it away, your branding doesn't matter.
